Falling Down the (internet) Rabbit Hole
Does this sound familiar? It’s after midnight. You’re exhausted but can’t seem to fall asleep. Recently, you haven’t been feeling 100%. So, you decide to search the following symptoms: headache and fatigue. Dr. Google diagnoses you with the flu, mononucleosis, or chronic fatigue syndrome. Just Fix it
Ten minutes into my first attempt at understanding Mast Cell Tumors (MCT’s), I was ready to join the National Canine Cancer Foundation. Demonstrating solidarity as well as one’s level of commitment to fighting a cause can only properly be defined by the quantity of color appropriate apparel and paraphernalia; I  swore Mahana, Travis (he didn’t know, yet.), and myself to a lifetime of keychains, bracelets, dog gear, and clothes adorned with pink paws. Oh yes, we were COMMITTED!

Miscellaneous Bump
Last fall, I noticed a bump the size of a small bug bite on Mahana’s right arm. When it didn’t go away, I mentioned it to one of our veterinarians in December. She said to keep an eye on it, but it didn’t look like anything to worry about.

The Tail Itch
On Saturday, I noticed that Mahana had been itching and trying to lick her tail area with an agitated vehemence. My first concern was that she had an impacted anal gland, although, this isn’t something to typically panic over, for us, it was a red flag.
